BERG is proud to support Matt’s Place
BERG is proud to announce that we will support Matt’s Place: a foundation that supports individuals and families that are going through the battle of ALS. BERG manufactures and supplies customers with Expandable Hard Sided Shelter Systems that improves the quality of life for deployed military men and women in harsh environments. Matt caught our eyes and hearts as a former U.S Marine battling ALS. His mission to destroy ALS became a perfect fit for BERG! As a former Marine who revels in the challenge of a seemingly impossible task, Matt wanted to be an inspiration for others battling ALS. Soon after his diagnosis, Matt came up with a slogan: “Uncrushable Spirit”. Matt embodies that philosophy. Every day he shows his family, friends and the North Idaho community, that although his diagnosis is a setback, he will not give up and will continue to look for blessings every day in his life.
While ALS is rare, military veterans are twice as susceptible to this disease as the general population.
Matt’s story -
In 2015, Matt Wild, a 41-year-old former U.S. Marine, began experiencing strange feelings in his hands and arms. It started with a sporadic loss of strength in his hands and grew to include tremors, shaking, and twitching in his arms, hands, shoulders, back, and chest. He wasn’t experiencing pain, but showed signs of muscle deterioration. Nearly a year of diet change and healthy eating had not alleviated his symptoms.
Matt began exploring a cause or diagnosis of his condition in early 2015. In February 2015, Spokane’s leading neurologist Dr. Carlson confirmed the initial diagnosis that Matt has Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease.
In the time since, Matt has learned much about ALS. His family and friends joined over 30,000 U.S. families that face this disease each year. ALS is a disease in which certain nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord slowly die. Over time, ALS makes it hard to walk, speak, eat, swallow, and breathe.

Matt says, "If anyone is going to beat ALS, it might as well be a Marine!” We completely agree! That’s why we are a proud supporter of ALS by giving $10,000 to Matt’s Place. BERG is also sponsoring a golf tournament. As we are building Expandable Hard Sided Shelter Systems and improving the quality of life for our deployed service members in harsh conditions, we realize how important it is to feel safe and comfortable whether you are sick or you are fighting for your country.
Matt’s Place Mission -
