The Berg Companies
comprise some of the oldest, continuously operating businesses in the state of Washington. The company, F.O. Berg was founded by Fredrick Oliver Berg in 1883. Back then the F.O. Berg Company produced high quality products, such as tents and awnings, using industrial fabrics.
After the big Spokane fire of 1889, the F.O. Berg Company was credited with building the 'Tent City' that housed businesses and residences during the rebuilding process. The company has relocated many times over the years as the business continued to evolve and develop new products.
In 1965 Spokane Tent and Awning purchased the company from Fredrick Berg's family. In 1992 Andy Barrett joined the company as owner, and by 1994 Craig Dolsby joined the company as co-owner with Barrett. In 2006, Barrett and Dolsby sold their majority ownership of another of their holdings, Echelon Manufacturing, LLC to the Coeur d'Alene Tribe, while still keeping minority ownership, to rename and refocus the business now known as Berg Integrated Systems.
